An Analysis of Research Trends on Psychiatric Vocational Rehabilitation in Korea

|
The objective of this study is to investigate research trends on psychiatric vocational rehabilitation in Korea and to propose ideas for further research. This study systematically examined the links between reality and research and identified the relationship between social work and other academic disciplines. In using content analysis as a method, a total of 96 articles published from 1997 to 2016 were analyzed in terms of academic disciplines, research subjects, research perspectives, and research methods. The results showed that there were similarities and differences between the reality and the research of psychiatric vocational rehabilitation. The reality and the research of psychiatric vocational rehabilitation agreed in the development process and the discipline distribution of it. Contrarily, there was a great gap between the reality and the research of mentally disabled people’s economic activities and vocational rehabilitation practices. The results also showed that social work and other disciplines had differences in the research subjects, research perspectives, and research methods. Further studies are needed to link the reality of psychiatric vocational rehabilitation and the research of it and specific research topics are suggested accordingly.
